Imaginative, innovative and useful, yet simple, elegant, and beautiful - a unique icon for Scotland unmatched by anything built in the previous 100 years.
There can only be one winner.

We've only visited this once but were very impressed. A beautiful piece of engineering. Must return.

A superb example of good engineering design producing a work of art.

The era of heroic engineering structures, like the Forth Railway Bridge, has long passed and so it is remarkable that the Falkirk Wheel was built at all, let alone that it should prove such a success from a functional, engineering and architectural standpoint. It can be appreciated by almost anyone: it is obvious how it works and what it does, it is in everyday use and it definitely enhances the landscape. It is without doubt one of Scotland’s treasured places and for me, despite considerable competition, the best.

A tremendous and inspiring icon of what the best of partnership and engineering can achieve - beauty and practicality in one.

What a truly inspiring monument to the Scottish canals in the 21st Century, an icon carved from steel, joining the historic canals back together. So massive in scale but so graceful and quiet in movement, transforming a corner of Falkirk into a very special and magical place.
