I was very lucky to have the chance to study at Glasgow School of Art. When I arrived I did not know what great architecture was, but by the end of my four years I knew! Its influence on me was literally life changing. I had gone there to study sculpture but came away wanting to construct much larger objects- buildings. It took me another ten years but I eventually qualified as an architect and my memories of this marvellous building will always remain clear. I remember running up the stone steps under the specially designed clock over the entrance into the reception hall. It was a dark space with glittering mosaic portraits of past artists greeting me as I climbed the stairs wrapped around the porter's office into the large flood-lit space of the museum where we hung our temporary exhibitions beneath its elegantly crafted wooden roof structure. I remember the smaller details of the building from the delicately coloured stained glass panels in the doors to the elegant and practical easels in the studios. I remember the specially designed window seats where I used to sit with my friends and discuss our days and nights. I have to stop there as my memories are endless! I don't know any other building with so much to offer.

I'm lucky enough to study in the mac, and even luckier to be in one of the most fantasic studios in the campus, in the interior design department.

Walking into the Mac for the first time as a school kid, I fell in love, genuinely. There's a special, and in a sense, romantic feel to the space, that still makes me appreciate how lucky I am to study and spend most of my time here. It's gutting that I'm half way through my course!

During the bleak war years the inspiring Mackintosh building impressed and inspired us. It was a pity that Macintosh was not really appreciated until much later. We as students were very privileged to study there at that time.

I graduated from GSA with a BA in Textiles in 2001 so I mostly worked in other buildings but I do have lots of memories of working in the Mackintosh building. I remember life drawing classes in the basement, the hard seats in the lecture theatre which didn't really detract from the dark cosy atmosphere, visiting Historical and Critical Studies tutors in their tardis like offices and the feeling that the building was full of industry! These days I enjoy revisiting all the interesting spaces when the building is open for the Degree Show. The Hen Run is a favourite space because the feeling of light and openess as I look out of the city is wonderful! I like the library a lot though it doesn't feel like a working space in the same way that the battered studios and corridors do. There is a homely charm about this building, having attended as a student I feel like I'm privy to some of it's secrets. Long may it stand and be enjoyed!

In the early 60s I studied and taught in GSA during one of the most exciting periods of my life. In this wonderful living breathing building one could not help but come to life and flourish. The humanity of the interior spaces which CRM designed....and the many friends I made in them....have left indelible memories in my soul and I am eternally grateful to have experienced it all.

I was fortunate to spent a year as a visiting artist at the GSA during 1994-5 academic year.... Great teaching and learning environment. Needless to say the Mackintosh Building is the strongest mnemonic sign of my memories from my time in Glasgow.

My time at Glasgow School of Art was a dream come true. I can still remember sitting in the Mackintosh lecture theatre on our first day and being totally inspired by my surroundings...and finding it hard to believe how lucky I was to be a student there. This building is a treasure.

Fantastic building - superb to work in, no other building has come close to it - I was lucky enough to be a student there, and can still visualize all the areas I worked in clearly - such a variety of spaces and interesting nooks and crannies!

Still love it.

I remember a drunken opening for the Schlitz Beer project c1988ish, swinging around this lovely sculpture while doing some extra research...

Many memories are entwined in that building for me and I am sure many others.

Have always loved Glasgow School of Art. That is my current choice. Difficult though. They are all good.
