What form of madness (previous comment) keeps this national treasure in decline when there is so much scope for its restoration?

I visited it two years ago and it is still retains its haunting beauty across the lake.

In 1989 the Environment Minister at the Scottish Office stated that: 'A building of this national importance deserves special considerations' (ref. 'Scotlands Endangered Houses' Dean/Myers). Little has changed in the last 18 years except for its slow demise, despite a showing on the BBC's 'Restoration' programme.

What form of madness excluded Mavisbank, a building of European importance, from the RCAHMS Top 10?

It is hightime the avant garde Palladian villa of the renaissance man of the Scottish Enlightenment, Sir John Clerk of Penicuik 2nd Baronet, is restored for the nation

Let's put Loanhead back on the map by bringing this spectacular build back to it's deserved life. The Chestnut Valley to enter this valley will also blow you away!! Believe me you'd forget you were in the Lothians.
